All the objects designed by Jochen Valett are variations on the metamorphosis of the circle – an amalgamation of microcosm and macrocosm.  Among experts, Jochen Valett is called „Spiralissimo“, as all his objects are based on the spiral.  They are created from a single piece of chromium steel wire which is soldered at only one point.

A spiral is shaped around a central axis which stands in a rubber ring.  Spiraculum also includes a small magnetic wheel.  As the rod is moved and the wheel gains momentum, it runs up and down on the inside and outside of the spiral.

Toroid is an endless spiral made of chromium steel, whjch is soldered at one single point.  The triple toroid consists of three toroids in different sizes which fit into each other or can be stacked.

IQ is a lighting system made up of 30 identical modules.  With these you can construct one or several lamp shades, using anything from 9 to 30 pieces.  For larger shades you will require several kits (32 to 120 pieces).  To give you an idea of all the possible shapes and sizes, a sheet with 30 mini-modules is included in the pack.

IQ Light can be installed with a standard flex and fitting.  The tension between the modules keeps the shade in place on the flex.  The trade mark IQ stands for ‚interlocking quadrilaterals’ – it  has nothing to do with intelligence!

Hang the spiral up on a thin nylon string and let it turn.  Depending on the direction in which it turns, the glass ball inside will move up or down.

Paul Schatz developed the oloid which consists of two circles standing at right angles to each other. Described as a device to generate a tumbling motion, this can indeed be observed when the oloid is placed on a slightly inclined surface.

A wind-up mechanism which old and young can enjoy.  Critter, the original creature, is like an old jeep with the brain of a mosquito.  Occasionally it will require a little maintenance with a drop of oil.  The rubber feet and the key come in a variety of colours.
