The TensegriToy nicely demonstrates the interdependence of rigid structural elements (struts) with elastic connections. If put together correctly they form a stable spatial structure, similar to a polyhydron. TensegriToy is based on the principle of “tensegrity” (short for “tension and integrity”), developed by the famous American architect, inventor and futurist Richard Buckminster-Fuller. “Bucky” developed numerous self-supporting structures based on this principle, including his well-known geodesic domes. The human body is also formed into a stable, yet flexible structure by combining rigid elements (bones) and elastic bands (muscles, tendons).
This model includes 12 Sticks, 12 bands, 26 caps (2are extras) and an assembly instruction.
